Chigee CG2 Motorcycle Smartphone Holder Review
Using your smartphone as a navigation device. We've been doing it for years, with various brands of support, but this Chigee promises to do it in a less invasive way. Let's find out how it goes.
Before the Carplay mania , the smartphone was the only choice for those who wanted to use free navigation apps , without having to buy a dedicated device like Tom Tom or Garmin . Even today, most motorcyclists choose this “economic” solution, perhaps charging their phone with a cable connected to a USB socket on the handlebars. With particular attention to the issue of vibrations , which in the past have destroyed the optics of many smartphones of unsuspecting owners.
Chigee , a quality Chinese brand that we have appreciated for various products reviewed, has in its catalog a stand called CG2 , in two options: with or without integrated charging.

The road test
Introduction. I tested this support with both the iPhone 12 mini and the 15. The versatility of this support lies in its ability to accommodate any cell phone, without the need to use a proprietary cover for specific attachments, and also to have the possibility of charging the device without having to attach it with a cable. The attachment/release system is very simple, and is based on leveraging the lower flap to widen the lateral ones. The entire construction is made of metal , which gives it not only a premium look, but also a durability over time and a robustness capable of resisting, according to Chigee , even at speeds exceeding 200 km/h .
Even the back of the stand, which shows us the anti-vibration structure , reveals the construction quality . At the bottom we find a USB C port , with a water and dust cap , which also gives us the possibility of charging phones that do not support wireless mode.
The handlebar bracket, equipped with adapter rubbers for the various thicknesses, unlike that of the TPMS G3 system, also has a premium construction , taking up very little space on the handlebar itself. A status LED , on the back, shows us the activity status of the device.

Chigee claims zero standby consumption , so there’s no need to plug it into an accessory socket, although nothing prevents us from doing so. Furthermore, if the CG2 detects low battery voltage, it will stop charging the connected phone, to preserve the charge and not leave us stranded.
In daily use, which you can also see in the attached video review, we found it very useful for its versatility but also for the convenience of being able to use any cover, without having to buy a specific one, as happens with other supports such as Quad Lock or SP Connect . If we then had to change phone model, we would not find ourselves facing a new expense.
There are no constraints for rotation, being mounted on a spherical head, we can switch from vertical to horizontal mode in a few seconds . Fear for the camera optics ? From our tests, on the two smartphones mentioned, no problem. Moreover, even just moving it with our hands, we realize how this system is cared for in every detail, especially in the structure intended to dampen vibrations.
Price and final considerations
Flaws ? Compared to other attacks, it takes up more space, but nothing glaring and in any case less than other universal ones. The price varies depending on the version, ranging from 89 euros for the basic version without charging, to 115 for the one that includes it. We recommend the second because, considering the expected longevity of a similar device, it is better to spend a little more but also have the convenience of being able to recharge our cell phone, with a single gesture and without loose cables. Compliments to Chigee for the constructive care and attention both in the packaging and in the materials and design of the products themselves.
