R 1300 GS without Riding Assistant? Neither model supports it. RM-1 for BMW needs factory Riding Assistant, and RM-1 CG does not fit the R 1300 GS / GSA.

Made for the CHIGEE SR-1.

RM-1 CG shows alerts only with the SR-1 Radar. Without it, the mirrors work as regular mirrors. With it, the alerts light up in the stems, so you can leave the standalone indicator lights in the box.²

How it connects. The SR-1 mounts at the rear of the bike and wires to the 12 V system. RM-1 CG then plugs straight into the SR-1 main harness.

Fit and setup

What's the difference between the Round and Angular shapes?

The Round shape is the first-generation RM-1 CG. Its indicator light sits lower on the stem and is longer than on the Angular shape. The Round version folds from the base (the mounting point), while the Angular version folds from the mirror arm. Both versions work the same way with the SR-1 Radar.

Which motorcycles does RM-1 CG fit?

RM-1 CG fits motorcycles whose original mirrors screw into M10 mirror mounts. Bolts for P1.50 and P1.25 threads, in right- and left-hand versions, come in the box. Check your bike's thread pitch and direction before you order.

What is the difference between RM-1 for BMW and RM-1 CG?

Both share the same mirror design and glass. The connection and alert source differ. RM-1 for BMW is made only for the R 1300 GS and R 1300 GS Adventure with factory Riding Assistant, and shows the factory alerts in the mirror stems. RM-1 CG for SR-1 fits other motorcycles with M10 screw-in mirrors and shows the alerts from the CHIGEE SR-1 Radar, which can also show them on a CHIGEE display.

Do I need the SR-1 Radar?

Yes, for alerts. RM-1 CG has no radar of its own. It shows the alerts from the CHIGEE SR-1 Radar, sold separately.

Can I use RM-1 CG without the SR-1?

Yes, as a regular rearview mirror. The stem indicators light up only when RM-1 CG is connected to the SR-1 Radar.

Does RM-1 CG fit the BMW R 1300 GS?

No. RM-1 CG does not support the R 1300 GS or R 1300 GS Adventure. If your bike has factory Riding Assistant, choose RM-1 for BMW.

Do I still need the SR-1 indicator lights?

No. With RM-1 CG plugged into the SR-1 main harness, the alerts show in the mirror stems, so the standalone indicator lights are not needed.

Do I need to cut or modify any wiring?

Not for the mirrors. RM-1 CG plugs into the SR-1 main harness. Only the SR-1 needs wiring to the 12 V system, so please follow the SR-1 user manual.

When do I need the 6 mm spacers?

Use the included 6 mm spacers if there is not enough room between the mirror and the mount during installation.

Radar alerts

Does RM-1 CG have its own radar?

No. RM-1 CG does not detect traffic. It displays the alerts from the CHIGEE SR-1 Radar.

What do the stem lights mean with the SR-1?

The RM-1 stems work the same way as the SR-1 indicator lights. A steady light means something is in that direction. A rapidly flashing light means something is closing fast and needs your attention. The light is a backup, not permission, so glance before you change lanes.

Can I adjust the SR-1 alerts?

Yes. In the CHIGEE GO app or on a compatible CHIGEE display, you can adjust the sensitivity and set the activation speed to 0, 10, 30, or 50 km/h (0, 6, 19, or 31 mph). Lower settings suit city riding.

Can I hear the radar alerts?

With the SR-1 paired to an AIO-5 or AIO-6 display, sound alerts play through the display speaker. They do not play through a Bluetooth headset. The XR-2 does not show SR-1 alerts on screen.

Why do alerts not always start at 70 m?

The SR-1 times each alert to the relative speed of the vehicle behind you. A fast-closing vehicle triggers an earlier alert, and a slow one triggers a later alert. This keeps unnecessary alerts low.

Mirror and compliance

Is the glass anti-glare?

Yes. The RM-1 uses gold-tinted glass with an anti-glare (AG) coating. It reduces glare from headlights and strong light.

Can I ride it in the rain?

Yes. The RM-1 is built to keep out water and dust, so you can ride it in the rain. Do not aim a pressure washer at the mirror stems.

Can the mirrors fold?

Yes. Each mirror folds inward about 130° for parking, storage, or tight trails. Damping and friction layers in the joint hold the mirror where you set it. Fold them back out before you return to the road.

Which standards has the RM-1 been tested against?

An independent lab tested the RM-1 against CE (EU EMC), FCC Part 15 Class B, EU RoHS, and AS/NZS CISPR 15. Lab reports are available on request from CHIGEE support. E-mark approval under UN ECE R10 is in progress and has not been granted yet.

  1. RM-1 CG does not perform radar detection. Alerts require the CHIGEE SR-1 Radar (sold separately); without it, RM-1 CG works as a regular mirror. Alert performance depends on the SR-1 Radar, the environment, and surrounding traffic. Always check your mirrors, stay aware of road conditions, and make riding decisions based on your own observation and judgment.
  2. SR-1 alert timing depends on the relative speed of surrounding traffic. Heavy rain and road spray can reduce detection. The rear strobe is less visible in bright daylight and does not replace a dedicated warning light.
  3. Check your motorcycle's mirror thread pitch and direction before you order. See the RM-1 CG user manual for installation.
